Bio
My name is Marina Cashmark and I have been teaching for 15 years. I left teaching five years ago to live in Costa Rica and have adventures, but discovered my favorite adventures have always been learning and growing with my students (sloths are great, but kids are more fun). I believe students learn best when given the freedom to connect new knowledge with knowledge and concepts they already know. My goal is to help you think critically while getting a better understanding of content and how to apply it. There are many versions of success and my purpose is to help you develop the tools to achieve your version of success. I’m here to create a safe space where you feel supported, have the freedom to express their individuality, gain independence, and make personal, relatable connections to the lessons. I'm so happy to be back, so happy you're not a sloth, and cannot wait to meet you and learn with you.
Teacher Specialization
I have 15 years teaching experience. Most of that time was spent in the 4th grade, but I have also taught 2nd, 5th, a 3/4 and a 4/5 combination class, and I have substituted in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms. I was a Secondary, or Mentor Teacher to 2 different student teachers finishing their 75 day internship in my classroom, and I was voted Teacher of The Year in my school district in 2012.
