Bio
My name is Rachel Keiser and I enjoy running, scrapbooking, and teaching. My educational philosophy, "Students won't care what you know til they know that you care" That is why I lean toward a positive approach in my tutoring and focus on success and learning together through "failures". I've held on to and idea presented in Meet the Robinsons where the inventor believes in spectacular failures; I have seen students learn the most when they try problems on their own whenever possible with mistakes and all, so that we can tackle as a team how to navigate that into growth with the curriculum. Positive Approach Ask students questions to help develop self-thinking skills Able to create similar math problems to homework problems with the student, so the student is able to transfer knowledge in order to help solve a homework problem on their own OR if preferred will work through homework problems directly with the student.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught full-time for twenty years in the public schools as a full-time teacher as well having had robust experience teaching summer school, tennis, skiing, etc. The grade levels I have taught the most are the middle 3-8th grade. However, my unique experience includes teaching math and/or reading through those many years in 1st, and 3rd-12th, so I have a unique understanding of the curriculum from start to finish and offer robust background into my tutor sessions.
