Greetings! My name is Mrs. Burrell. I live in GA with my wonderful husband and my three precious children. I grew up in PA where I loved swimming in my backyard pond, but then brought my love of water here. I am a traveling swimming teacher in the summer months. My teacher philosophy is MATH...Mistakes allow Thinking to Happen! I love the concept of practicing for progress and that learning by doing it gives students the freedom to fail and have mistakes to learn from. My teacher personality is an approach of lots of words of encouragement and affirmation in order to give students confidence to try new concepts/take risks with the possibility of failure. Within the failure, students are able to rise to the occasion of learning problems solving skills and courage to keep learning and trying new things.
I received my Bachelors in Arts in Special Education at Clemson University. I had the privilege of teaching 7 years of High School Math in a Self-contained Special Education class and Team Taught class. I taught the following classes: Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Career classes. I also had the honor to teach two years as a Pre-K Special Education Teacher. I have nine years of tutoring Geometry, Algebra, basic college math and 5th/7th math.
