My name is Colleen Kayl and I am excited to be your science tutor! I believe in creating an open atmosphere that is fun and exciting, where students are not afraid to take risks. We will together target strategies that work best for the student to make learning personal, while developing skills that the student can apply to other classes. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy hiking, traveling, horseback riding and animals! I volunteer time at a local wildlife rehabilitation center, providing care for Michigan native species ranging from baby fawns to eagles. At home, I have 2 children, 6 chickens, 2 dogs, 2 fish and a cockatiel. I look forward to getting to know you better too!
I taught high school science in Michigan for 11 years (5 brick-and-mortar and 6 virtual) and have been department lead for 4. I attended Oakland University and obtained my B.S. in Biology and Secondary Science Education Certification, and Michigan State University for my Masters in Educational Technology. I graduated Cum Laude from Oakland University, was nominated twice for Oakland University's Writing Excellence Contest and was nominated for Charter School Teacher of the Year!
