Welcome! I am a lifetime learner, and it is my goal to create the will to be a lifetime learner in all my students. I desire to instill a love of learning, that learning can/should be fun, and to own that fun. Without learning and knowledge, true success cannot be achieved. I want my students to learn and grow as individuals, be the best they can be, and be happy additions to our society and world. I have taught students of all ages, cultures, and socioeconomics, from third grade through adult and tutored in all subjects to eighth grade and English reading/writing to college/adult. I focus on making my lessons fun, diverse, interactive, and centered on the interests and lives of my students. My undergraduate degree is in International Business and Master’s degree is in Teaching. I hold teaching certifications in California and Illinois (Retired). I have won Teacher of the Month awards numerous times and was a 4th-grade department chair and middle school science department chair.
I have taught all subjects in 4th grade, middle school general science, middle school English, and Social Science. I also have taught basic business principles. I have been tutoring 3rd to 9th-grade writing, including creative, narrative, argumentative, expository, and descriptive for four years. Additionally, I teach grammar and spelling as part of writing. I have tutored writing to college-level students as well. Overall I have over 35 years of teaching or training.
