Bio
My name is Ms. Christiansen. I became an online tutor because I enjoy helping students to become better readers and writers. I believe every student can learn, but not all students learn or demonstrate what they have learned in the same way. My goal for tutoring is to help students develop skills to help them become successful in the classroom. One of the things I like to do in my online classes is to do a Good News Share. Sharing your good news for the week (I visited my grandma, my dad got a new job, we found our lost dog, etc.) helps me to get to know the student better. My hobbies include putting together puzzles, photography, making videos, and scrapbooking. I am currently learning to speak German and Dutch because my plan is to spend many many summers in Switzerland and the Nederlands.
Teacher Specialization
I taught Language Arts and Literature for 26 years. Most of my years of teaching has been in middle school. I have taught grade levels 6-12. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I also worked as an ELA Interventionist in a high school setting. In addition to my teaching degree, I have a Master's Degree in School Counseling. I have 3 years of online teaching experience (both tutoring and classroom teacher).
