Bio
Hi there! I live in beautiful Arizona with my kids, husband, and three-year-old dog named Emerson. I love to walk, read, bake, play tennis, and catch up on Dr. Who episodes. I lived in Australia for three years and love to travel! I became a tutor because I love working with children and helping them find joy in reading and writing. I'm passionate about literacy and its empowering effect in our lives. I firmly believe establishing a good relationship with students is fundamental to providing effective tutoring. My philosophy is simple: all students need a safe and supportive environment to learn their best. I work hard to provide that! I evaluate students based on their individual growth and goals. Learning should be fun and engaging, and I strive to provide interesting and relevant material. My goal is to help students "crack the code" of reading and writing and gain confidence in their literacy.
Teacher Specialization
My bachelor's degree is in English Teaching. For two years I taught 10th, 11th, and 11th Honors English before I began in-person tutoring. In 2010, I made the switch to online as a writing tutor for high school and college students. In 2020, I taught 9th grade English online. Afterwards, I began substitute teaching all grade levels, but mostly elementary school. At the same time, I expanded my online tutoring experience to include early literacy and ELA for all grade levels.
