Bio
Hi! My name is Ms. Karen and I live in the Chicagoland area. I am a mother of four adult children who enjoys spending time outdoors with my husband and our pup Gracie. As a dedicated educator, I have a strong history of helping students spanning all ages and abilities succeed academically. My positive and engaging learning environment provides a safe space to develop confidence through competence. Building relationships is essential to being a great teacher and I enjoy getting to know my students. It is important for me to partner with my students to provide a successful learning experience. It allows them to thrive and reach their full potential. I tailor my teaching strategies to accommodate individual differences and learning styles ensuring each student receives the support they need. Additionally, I work to integrate personal interests into my material to maintain excitement and motivation. It is my passion to find engaging and creative solutions to learning needs.
Teacher Specialization
Upon completing my BA and MAT, I was a second grade, self-contained cross categorical classroom teacher. During that time, I worked with a wide variety of students whose needs included overcoming academic challenges and addressing functional skills. I also received a nomination for a Golden Apple Award and was a grant recipient. My individualized instructional support ranges from preschool to 9th grade students and I am comfortable assisting students in multiple subjects and topics.
