Bio
Hello! My teaching approach is to make learning fun and engaging for all students. I strive to meet not only the individual learning needs of my students, but also the unique learning styles that are needed in order for each child to be successful academically. I enjoy creating interactive lessons that allow students to grow and achieve mastery of the content in engaging ways that make learning fun and relevant for each student. I will provide you with teacher modeling, guided practice, opportunities for questions, and constructive feedback on your performance of the targeted skill or strategy. I want to help you grow into a more confident student as I assist you with phonics, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, or writing. I can't wait to help you hone your skills and encourage you as you become more confident in your education journey!

My name is Katelyn Burrus, and I have been an elementary classroom teacher for eight years. I taught fifth grade ELA for six years, second grade for one year, and first grade for one year. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in reading from Campbell University in 2015, where I was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I was honored to be selected as my school's Teacher of the Year for the 2019-2020 school year.
