Bio
I am Mandy Shortino. I am a mom of two boys (2 and 5) a former High School English teacher of 10 years. Currently, I am a Parent Educator and work with families of children between prenatal and pre-K ages. I worked for McGraw Hill Education as a Learning Technology Representative at the college level. I am passionate about reading and writing. It has always been my mission and goal to help students find the joy of reading by providing them access to tools needed to read and comprehend. I realize not everyone likes to read and write like I always have, so I strive to make it fun and understandable for all students. I left the classroom in a traditional sense, but still very much want to make an impact on students' learning and futures. I am here and happy to help!
Teacher Specialization
I have a Master's in Teaching and Technology; a Bachelor's in Secondary English Education; I have taught English Language Arts for 10 years in High School. I am Special Education certified in grades K-12. I have taught in modified and class-within-a class environments, Honors/Advanced English, CWC and online English. I have taught ACT Prep and Grammar. I am pursuing my Library Media Science degree. I have coached volleyball and soccer for 10 years. I currently work as a Parent Educator.
