Greetings! ¡Saludos! My name is Maureen Legaria. I teach English, English Language Arts, English Language Development (ESL), Spanish, and Spanish Language Arts. My hobbies include rescuing animals and learning languages (I am currently studying modern and ancient Greek). I have been an educator for over 35 years, and I love working with students. My experience has shown me that students learn best when they feel supported and have a positive experience with their teachers and peers. Students need to know that they have a voice and that their ideas, comments, and questions are valued. As a teacher, these are my objectives: To know the students and the content that I teach, and to provide an equitable learning environment, respecting all aspects of diversity. I will provide sessions where you will have the opportunity to practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing through interactive language activities, protocols, and technology. I look forward to tutoring you!
Teacher Specialization
I love teaching! I have been an educator for over 35 years, working both nationally and internationally. Most recently, from 2013-2023, I was employed as both a consultant and program/instructional facilitator for the English Language Learner program in a school district. However, I also have years of experience in the classroom. From 1972-2022, I wore many hats. I have taught multilingual learners from grades K-12 in both Virtual Academies and traditional/dual language programs.
