Hi! My name is Ms. Steen, and I would love to help you with all of your academic needs! My current role is the AVID Coordinator/Teacher for FLCCA. AVID teaches critical thinking skills, organization, and helps students gain highly desired skills that will help them in their core classes and become college ready. Prior to AVID, I was a highly effective ELA teacher for 10 years. I specialized in helping students struggling with reading and writing and showed amazing growth results. I believe we are a team with a common goal that is your students’ success. I believe is creating a comfortable environment with open communication so that I can help you best and zone in on areas that are needed for improvement. I am certified as an ELA teacher for 6-12th but also work with elementary aged students and have since 2010. as well as being certified in business education grades 6-12. Business Ed. is a broad certification that can help with accounting, finance, IT, marketing and business law.

My educational background is a bachelor’s degree from the UCF in English Literature and an MBA from FIU.
