Bio
Hello! My name is Ruth and I am excited to meet and work with you. I am an educator with over 16 years of classroom teaching. I am a dog-mom to a three-year-old shih-poo. I enjoy traveling, reading, watching movies, playing scrabble and cooking. One interesting fact about me is that I have seven siblings who live on different continents. When I was a student in high school, I had a teacher who helped me overcome my struggles in academics. She volunteered to become my tutor and I am forever grateful for her continuous encouragement to not give up on myself. She was instrumental to my chosen career as an educator. Like my teacher, I would like to be able to inspire my students and not give up on themselves! I believe that all children can learn by providing them with personalized instruction and support to meet their individual needs.
Teacher Specialization
I have a bachelor's degree in secondary education. I hold a New York State Public School Teacher Certification. I've taught in various charter schools in New York City as a full time learning specialist and I have been awarded as one of the recipients of Board's Commendation for Teaching Excellence by one of the charter schools. I believe all children can learn if they are given the right opportunity and support and an instruction that is tailored to meet their individual needs.
