Bio
I am a veteran educator that is passionate about igniting my students desire to learn. I have many years of experience in teaching literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies. Nothing brings me more joy than to see the lightbulb go on when my students understand and apply new skills. As well as the confidence that comes from that realization. Some of my interests include reading, drawing, traveling, and spending time in the mountains with my family. I believe the best approach is for students to use their learning styles (such as auditory, kinesthetic, and visual strengths) during their lessons. My philosophy is that everyone can learn. It is my intent to create a safe and supportive environment for my students to excel. I plan to set goals with my students and provide them and their parents with timely feedback during the learning process.
Teacher Specialization
I graduated with honors from Saint Leo University with a Masters in Education degree (with a focus in reading), K-12 Reading and Reading Endorsement. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree (K-6 Education). I am ESOL certified and have taught for 16 years. I spent 6 years in both 1st and 2nd grade, 7 years in both the 3rd and 4th grades, and 3 years as a reading and math resource teacher for K-8 students.
