Hello, my name is Alexis and I am from Arizona; the Grand Canyon state of the US. Yes, I have been there, and done that. Three days of hiking, sleeping outside, eating dry food, and nearly running out of water. All worth seeing the hidden pools and waterfalls of the desert. Enough about where I'm from. Let me tell you about what I do. I am a language arts and ESL teacher with a style. I use pictures, rhymes, and repetition when I teach. It helps to remember things because in order to learn, we first must be interested and second, what we learn needs to connect with us in some way. Besides teaching, I enjoy cooking, karaoke, light fitness activities, and travel. More importantly, I enjoy teaching, and giving a kind or encouraging word to those in need. We can all use plenty of those, so, let me say; you are strong, smart, and kind. Know that it is okay to ask for help. It is okay to start over. And you are capable of amazing things! Keep smiling; it makes life more beautiful.

I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2009. I graduated again in 2011 with a Masters in Education. I am certified by the state of Arizona and Nevada to teach Secondary ELA. I am also certified to teach ESL and spent a couple of years as a college instructor in Taiwan. I have tutored students abroad, as well as in the states in grammar and writing. While most of my experience has been in secondary ELA, I have spent some time with elementary students
