Bio
I have had 2 careers during my work history. First as a accountant/financial analyst in financial services and secondly as a high school math teacher. I enjoy most sports including pickleball and football. I feel that students need to understand concepts over rote formulas and be able to be comfortable with key definitions and math vocabulary. Test results are an important tool to be able to go back and see where misunderstandings occur. I feel that my strengths are in communicating key math concepts, and an understanding of the specifics of both the curriculum and on the appropriate standardized tests. Additional strengths include making it relevant to outside interests. I pride myself in establishing a good working relationship with my students.
Teacher Specialization
I am a retired high school math teacher from a large comprehensive New York City High School. I taught high school mathematics for 14 years. The major Courses I taught include Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and Geometry. I taught at Queensboro Community College for 8 years in their Kids College and 21st Century Learning Program. At Queensboro I taught courses in: Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra, Specialized High School Test Prep, and Math SAT Test Prep.
