Bio
Practice makes progress is my motto in tutoring. All students can learn if they take the time to work hard at learning new skills. I seek to provide opportunities to practice that are fun and engaging. I also create an encouraging environment where students can learn from their mistakes and celebrate their growth. I absolutely love reading and writing and have been known to write fun reading passages to help my students learn to love reading.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught elementary school for 10 years and tutored K-12 students for 28 years. I am certified to teach kindergarten through sixth grade and have completed early literacy and Orton-Gillingham training. Currently, I teach reading intervention. I enjoy finding, editing, or creating resources that match students' needs and interests leading me to write two reading comprehension books with Teacher Created Resources and reader's theaters on Teacher Pay Teachers (endorsed by the Reading League).
