This upcoming school year will become my 13th year teaching Spanish. I have 12 completed school years teaching all levels of Spanish, of which 8 years have been in the brick and mortar setting and 5 in the virtual setting. I believe it is the right and privilege of every individual to acquire an education that provides them with the knowledge, wisdom, commitment, and literacy necessary to enhance their future opportunities while serving the needs of society. Education is a life-long process, a means to an end, and not and end in itself. Therefore, there must not only be an emphasis on the completion of a course of study, but also the acquisition of skills that will enable each student to learn, to understand, to appreciate, and to function successfully in the world.
