Bio
I love being a Hokie and Patriot, a proud graduate of Virginia Tech and George Mason University. In my spare time, when I'm not enjoying the incredible weather in Florida, baking is a relaxing option, along with creative writing. Once a month, I run a Dungeons and Dragons game. Reading has been my favorite hobby since childhood; nothing beats comics, manga, and a good old-fashioned book like Percy Jackson. My classroom is warm and inviting. Risk-taking is encouraged and supported with careful scaffolding. My teaching philosophy is everyone can fly with the proper support. Laughter is essential.
Teacher Specialization
I have a vast, vibrant experience of working for children for twenty years, from PreK through middle school. Twenty years of gains, challenges, and confidence building in core academic subjects: Reading, Writing, Math, Social studies, and Science. During the pandemic, I created online games using popular books like Dogman to create an RPG adventure. My proudest achievement was when I was selected as a representative for my school for the Ida B Baker Award in 2020
