Bio
Debora, who lives in Northern California near the Pacific Ocean, enjoys walking, searching for sea shells along the beach, quilting, and playing with her grandchildren. She is an experienced classroom and resource teacher. Her favorite subjects to teach are writing, pre algebra, and reading. Her instruction is student focused to bring a connection to learning. Her educational philosophy for reading instruction is multidimensional and must include the five pillars of reading: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency and Comprehension. Effective instruction of these components is systematic and explicit. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading meets these standards. Debora connects with students by making them feel valued and respected. Her students feel that she cares about them, wants what's best for them, and has confidence in their abilities. She takes time to find out what her students' interests are.

I have 10 years experience teaching in K-12 classrooms multiple subjects, Middle School and High School English Language Arts and Pre Algebra, and 6 years in special education. teaching resource and intervention in math and English language arts. I attended Dominican University of CA with M.S. in education, Cal Poly Humboldt for Master of Arts in Special Education and Orton Gillingham training at the Institute of Multi Sensory Education.
