Bio
My name is Jennifer Vander Zee and I live in the Chicago area with my husband. I grew up in a beach town in Southern California where I spent most of my time on the beach, surfing and playing volleyball. I attended college in Southern California at Azusa Pacific University, where I met my husband. After graduation and getting married, we moved to Chicago area. While we miss the sunshine filled beach lifestyle of Southern California, we love the seasons and homegrown life we have here in the Midwest. In our free time, we enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing sports, and being active, especially outdoors. Professionally, I am a passionate and experienced educator. I love my work and feel grateful to have the opportunity to help students grow and learn. I value inquiry based learning, where students are engaged, collaborating, problem solving, and making connections to the real world by curiosity and discovery of content.
Teacher Specialization
I have my Illinois Professional Educator License, a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education with emphasis on STEM. I have taught in the classroom for 4 years; 2 years teaching 2nd grade and 2 years teaching high school and middle school Family and Consumer Science. I also have a wide variety of tutoring experience, working with students of various age groups, content areas, and needs.
