Bio
Hello! My name is Jessica Higgins and I am an 8th grade math teacher at Texas Online Preparatory School. I earned my degree from Texas Christian University (TCU - Go Frogs!). This is my 14th year in education and I love to make math FUN by bringing music, humor, and simplicity into our sessions. I believe that every student can learn, and that even students that think they can't do math can find the fun in learning math and they CAN get it! I will partner with your student to meet them where they are currently and find what interests them to relate it to learning math concepts. Math is all around us, we just have to look!
Teacher Specialization
I have been teaching for over 14 years. Most of my experience is teaching 8th grade math, but I have taught 7th grade math, 5th grade math, 7th grade reading and writing, journalism, and AVID. After teaching in brick and mortar schools for several years, I joined Texas Virtual Academy and have since moved over to Texas Online Preparatory School where I have taught 8th grade math and served as the 8th grade lead teacher. I have a passion for making math FUN!
