Bio
I am eager to help students understand math conceptually. Good mathematics isn't about what you know, it's about what you do when you don't know! I guide students through topics by asking questions that help the student build on prior knowledge and figure out a solution using their own thinking and reasoning. I like to build rapport with my students by asking them questions about their lives and finding ways to tie mathematics into their interests and hobbies. Some fun facts about me are that I played snare drum in The Ohio State University Marching Band, and I have two German Shepherds that I run and hike with often.
Teacher Specialization
I have tutored mathematics since I was in high school myself. Over the years, I've tutored many subjects from 5th grade math to calculus and college-level courses. I was an undergraduate teaching assistant for College Algebra at The Ohio State University. I completed a B.S. degree in Mathematics and an M.Ed in Mathematics Education. I taught high school math for 7 years including Algebra 1, Geometry, Precalculus/Trig, and College Prep Math.
