I love solving puzzles, and that's what tutoring is to me. What are the student's strengths and what pieces are missing? My tutoring sessions include a couple minutes of conversation, diagnoses, reteaching "skill gap" areas and applying them to current level, working on math problems chosen by the student, and closing with student's description of what was learned and what to bring next session.
Teacher Specialization
I have been a professional math tutor and/or math teacher off and on since 1979. I homeschooled my son (who has dysgraphia) from 1994-2004. I have created workbooks for dysgraphia and dyscalculia, and a program for those with dyslexia. As a Special Education teacher I have taught students with ADD, autism and other learning differences; I use their strengths to support their weaknesses. I've completed my third year teaching high school history with k12 at TVAH.
