Bio
Aloha! I am so excited to meet you and to begin this learning journey together. I was born and raised on a small island in Hawai'i. I’ve lived there almost my entire life. In the summer of 2023 I moved to southern California. I love water sports (canoe paddling, bodyboarding, paddle boarding, fishing and boating), spending time at the beach and being outdoors. I love children and I love teaching! My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and can grow to their full potential within a safe learning environment where their differences are embraced, they are encouraged to share their ideas and take risks. We learn and grow together. My goal during our tutoring session is to get to know you, your learning style, your strengths and areas of challenges and use my knowledge and skills as a professional educator to keep you engaged, increase your confidence and help you achieve your academic goals. I look forward to supporting you to strive on your learning journey!
Teacher Specialization
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. I’ve been an elementary school teacher for the past 14 years. I’ve taught reading, writing, math, science, social studies, physical education and Hawaiian studies in grades first, second and fourth. I also have experience as a tutor in both reading and math, curriculum coordinator, student support coordinator and an after school program coordinator.
