Bio

My name is Matthew, and after graduating with honors from university, I ended up following my dream of becoming a teacher. My two major subjects are English and history (but I also love tutoring math) and I am also a scuba diving instructor (too bad we can't do that here!). I was once a high school student taking AP classes and applying to universities, so I can relate to the struggles that many modern students are having in today's world. My classes and tutoring sessions focus on a student-centered approach that gives the student more possibilities for breakthrough learning. In addition to this, my tutoring features attainable goals for each student, allowing for a fun and interactive environment. All of my tutoring sessions are tailor-made to fit the student's needs for that particular session, and I expect the student to make great strides while with me.

Teacher Specialization

Most of my experience comes from working at private international schools abroad in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and China, where I taught and tutored American and British nationals in AP, Common Core, and IB. I was even lucky enough to be a lecturer at a university during this time. I also have extensive experience working and tutoring in California in the Common Core system. I am state-certified to teach and have a master's in education. I am currently finishing my special education credential.
