Bio
I strive to maintain a patient and positive attitude so students feel safe and encouraged in their math learning. In my tutoring sessions, I guide students through math problems by helping them break down the question and notice similarities to other problems they have solved, while adding to their knowledge any strategies that may be useful. I encourage students to think of multiple ways to look at math problems and to practice their visual thinking and mental number sense.
Teacher Specialization
I hold a Washington state teaching certification with an endorsement in secondary mathematics, as well as a Master in Teaching degree from the Evergreen State College. I have been tutoring math since 2016, and have also worked in public schools for 4 years, as a paraeducator supporting elementary and high school students with disabilities, as a student teacher in a 6th grade math classroom, and as a substitute teacher.
