Bio
Bio I am a retired English teacher who loves children. I still go in and substitute in our schools today because I love kids so much. I also love to read; I believe reading is the basis to success in all subjects. Other hobbies include walking, scrapbooking, and spending time with my grandchildren. I have taught every level of intellect and social class, and I realize that students learn in different ways. That is why I try to address each learning style in my lessons: visual. auditory, kinesthetic, and read/write. I believe that people learn best when they can connect the material being taught with their own experiences and at their own particular level of learning. Therefore, I make a concerted effort to get to know my students so that I can incorporate things they can relate to in my lessons. I always try my best to make learning fun. I believe my love for my students is apparent because they, in turn, seem to love me. I look forward to working with the students at Stride.
Teacher Specialization
I have 20 years of experience in a high school classroom 6-12 grades where I have dealt with ADD, ADHD, & dyslexia, as well as regular and advanced English. I also taught at a local junior college and tutored in my home and the school library for 3 years. I have worked as a substitute in our local schools K-12 for the last 12 years. During this time I have had a great deal of experience in the special education classes and have worked with all levels of autistic students. 4 years tutoring
