Bio

Greetings, my name is Sherri and I am honored to be working with you. I believe that everyone can learn when given the proper structure, time and tools; I strive to create an atmosphere where students not only absorb information but also develop the skills and mindset necessary to become lifelong learners. I enjoy finding creative ways to customize learning sessions based on each student's unique needs, through a carefully planned series of differentiated activities. My goal for each session is to cultivate a skill set that helps to ensure learners become confident participants in the global community: these include the 21st century skills of Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Creativity. My instructional approach is quite simple actually; it begins with a culture of inclusion and belonging. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I recently returned to the U.S. after spending seven years teaching English, math, and science in the Middle East.

Teacher Specialization

I have taught math, reading, and various core subjects for over 24 years. My teaching journey began with elementary students (K-5), and I went on to teach middle and high school along with undergraduate students for an online university. I earned my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) from Texas A&M University, along with specialized certifications in the areas of Mathematics, Reading, and Gifted Ed. I obtained a M.A. in Adult Education from Central Michigan University.
