Bio
Greetings! I'm Ms. A., and I'm honored for the opportunity to help you learn and achieve. I have always been a reader, believing we can learn so much from imaginative literature and even more from well-composed and researched informational text. I also believe in learning through the writing process since it engages the mind in conceptual thinking. There is so much to learn! I speak three languages and have taught in the USA and Canada. I thoroughly enjoy helping students discover new modes of learning that help inspire a love of reading, an appreciation of writing, and increased educational achievement. This means discovering students' strengths and helping them apply their skills to nuanced tasks that build on those strengths. I believe in establishing rapport with whomever I work by understanding student needs, establishing attainable learning goals, and fully supporting students in the learning process.
Teacher Specialization
I've been a secondary English, French, and ESL educator for the past 14 years and am certified to teach all three in Michigan. I hold several degrees: BA Specialization in English Literature, MA in Education with ESL Endorsement, and MA in English with a focus on Writing/Rhetoric. I've worked with a variety of wonderful students, including students who have differentiated needs and whose first language is not English. I believe all students can learn if the right methodologies are in place.
