Bio
As a career educator, I believe that learning is a lifelong practice and that with the right tools and support, knowledge can be accessible to everyone. In my tutoring sessions, I aim to better understand the knowledge a student already has so that we can build upon prior learning, fill any gaps that exist, and move forward to new learning from a firm foundation. I enjoy working with students from across the grade levels and content areas and finding ways to help material "stick" for them! Tutoring has always been a way for me to remain connected to my roots as a classroom teacher while getting to see individual student growth close-up.
Teacher Specialization
I have 15 years of teaching experience with students from Pre-K through College, and over 17 years of private tutoring experience. I have taught and tutored every major subject K-9 and specialize in reading and language arts above 9th grade as well. I have a BS in Elementary Ed, MA in Reading Ed, and a PhD in Education. When I am not tutoring, I lead a program serving gifted students and students with disabilities in a K-12 virtual program and teach as an adjunct professor for a university.
