Bio
I live on a beautiful Lake in Oklahoma with my husband and dog. I have 6 grandkids who visit often. I love the outdoors, traveling and yoga. Early in my teaching career I was introduced to the first graphing calculators. They became my passion which eventually led me to a job with TI. I worked there for 18 years with some of the best math educators in the world but knew someday I wanted to return to teaching. With grandkids in Arkansas, I decided to take a job there as a District Math director. I was able to collaborate with teachers but still wanted to teach. In 2016 I got married and moved to Oklahoma where I tutored math. In 2020 I learned of a K12 high school math position which I took. My philosophy is to teach conceptionally, assess student understanding and plan accordingly. Teaching virtually provides a great platform for using visual technology tools to build conceptual understanding. I want my students to love learning math, understand the concept and see math’s usefulness.
Teacher Specialization
I have taught or co-taught math from K-Calculus with the most experience in middle and high school. In Math ed leadership roles I have been able to co-teach all levels. My experience has provided me with a better understanding of the progression of learning math. I have tutored elementary-college math and for MATHCOUNTS competitions, ACT, SAT and other entrance exams. I am experienced in using graphing technology such as Desmos and TI graphing along with GeoGebra as dynamic instructional tools.
