Bio
¡Hola! My name is Heidi Orozco, and I am excited to be a part of your language-learning journey. As a native Spanish speaker, I have loved communicating in Spanish with my family in Nicaragua and Mexico as well as teaching English in Spain. Because I love learning new languages (currently studying French), I know it is meaningful and fun when learning connects to student interests, and students have agency in their learning process. By getting to know you, we can adapt and personalize the lesson to your needs. Languages are powerful bridges to understanding other people's worlds; I hope that because of our sessions together, you can connect your learning outside the classroom and communicate with Spanish-speaking communities. By practicing together and digging deep into the material, the goal is to have a solid foundation of Spanish that you can apply to all the Spanish-speaking environments you go to.
Teacher Specialization
At Wellesley College, I majored in Education Studies and Spanish, developing curriculum for Latin American Studies, History, and Public Speaking courses. I've worked with middle and high schoolers teaching Humanities classes, both in-person and online. I've also worked with elementary-aged students teaching English as a Second Language. While at Wellesley, I peer-tutored for the Spanish and Education departments. At the culmination of the program, I also taught three Spanish AP classes.
