I believe students best learn when they are having fun! There are many different kinds of learners out there and providing instruction that meets them where they are at is very important to me. I aim to instill a sense of confidence in every student as we work together because they are capable and they need to know it! I love meeting new students and getting to know them! We can all learn so much from each other. I lived in Brazil for a year and a half and speak Portuguese, although not as fluently as I did while I was there. Learning a new language helped me to understand the difficulties that come from learning English and learning to read and I love helping students to figure it out and see their excitement when they do!

I have 2 years experience teaching lower grades in elementary school. I taught first grade and second grade, each covering all content areas. I have a Teaching English as a Second Language endorsement, which I earned along with my Elementary Education degree from Brigham Young University. One year that I taught was during COVID, so I learned quickly how to engage with first graders in an online setting. I have also been tutoring in online K-8 reading for two and a half years.
