Bio
Hello! My name is Megan O'Connor and I have been a teacher for over eight years in a variety of school roles in New York State. These range from a teaching assistant, substitute teacher, taking over four maternity leave positions for English grades 7-12, and being a middle school English teacher. I am well-versed in the Common Core Standards for NYS focusing on English. I have received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the state of New York. I am dual certified in Secondary English for grades 7-12 and Literacy for grades 5-12. My utmost goal in education is to contribute to student progress, growth, and assisting students towards establishing and achieving goals. I want my students to feel empowered as they realize that their hard work, effort, and commitment can be truly powerful, and as a teacher, I want to provide that effective learning community. Not only do I strive to get to know students as learners but as people and integrate their interests into effective lessons!
Teacher Specialization
My recent teaching experience was being an 8th Grade English Teacher from September 2021- June 2023 at Johnstown CSD. Before that, I covered a maternity leave as an English Teacher from September 2020-June 2021 at Schalmont CSD. Before I did that, I was a 7th and 8th Grade English Teacher from September 2019-June 2020 at Lynch Middle School at Amsterdam CSD. I have taken over a total of four maternity leave positions and have taught at a variety of schools all over the Capital Region in NYS!
