Bio
Hello, my name is Samantha and I used to teach first-grade before I had my two beautiful children. This year I will be teaching Reading and Writing for 5th through 8th grade as an ELA interventionist. How I teach is based upon the student. Every student is different and learns differently compared to their peers. Therefore, I like to get to know my students and teach based on their personalities, learning styles, interests, cultures, and environments. My teaching styles are demonstrator and facilitator. I encourage and guide students to master the content and skills through fun and engaging activities. Most of all, I respect my students and have a passion for guiding students throughout the learning process. Math is my favorite subject to teach! My goal through tutoring is to help students increase their independence and confidence with their academic skills. My interests are spending time with my family, outdoor activities, coaching, golfing, watching sports, baking, and working out.
Teacher Specialization
My bachelor's degree is in elementary education; master's degree in teacher as leader with a K-12 gifted/talented endorsement; and doctorate degree in occupational therapy. I taught first-grade for two years and third-grade for one year in public school settings. I have been a certified substitute for all grades pre-K-12th including special education classes. In addition, I have taught summer school for three years and tutored K-5th grade students in afterschool programs for three years.
