Hi! I'm Sandy Harrington. I am very excited to be a tutor here and to help you with your classes! I like to paint, sing, play with my cats, and go on nature hikes. I speak Spanish and French, and can tutor you in your own language if you speak those languages. I want to be a tutor because I like to help people succeed. I think students learn best when topics center around what interests them. I teach foreign languages, I believe that foreign language learning increases one's higher-order thinking skills. My goals for tutoring involve helping students learn challenging content, concepts, and learning intentions; also to helping them master success criteria for the particular lesson. I want to connect with students by talking about things we have in common and/or things we like to do; whether it's about pets, hobbies, places we have been or want to go.
Teacher Specialization
How has your background prepared you to be the best tutor/teacher? I have a BA in French and an MFA in Translation with many graduate courses in Spanish, English, Comparative Literature, and creative writing. I have taught all levels of college English classes in composition and literature for over ten years, all levels of Spanish language for over 20 years, All levels of French classes for five years. I also taught High school and Junior High ESL and foreign languages.
