Theresa P.
Bio
Hello! I would love to help you figure out "the mysteries" of AP chemistry class! My background is not typical: I was a practicing chemist for 15 years before I became a teacher. I have worked in city utilities, a coal-fired power plant, a contractor ammunition plant and a private environmental lab. My extensive experience in applying the principles of chemistry to real life gives me a unique perspective on how I teach. Real world examples are so much easier to visualize than abstract concepts in a textbook. I have a very dry sense of humor and am a self-confessed "nerd" who LOVES dogs.
Teacher Specialization
I taught at Captain Shreve High School from 2001 until my retirement in the Spring of 2023. During my tenure there, I taught physical science, chemistry (enriched), honors chemistry I, chemistry II and AP/Dual Enrollment Chemistry. The dual enrollment was granted through LSU-Shreveport. I have a Louisiana State certification in general science, physics & chemistry. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Master of Arts in Teaching.
